In My Book We're Gonna Be Winners

Last night was the Gryphon Athletic Banquet. Everyone gets together, drinks some wine, eats some cheese, stumbles down to the AC, listens to weird speeches by the higher ups, eats a shit ton of food, cheers obnoxiously when a person from their team wins an award, and then stumbles on downtown. It's a pretty fun time, especially since the track team seems to clean up. Papa Kyle won his third consecutive Athlete of the Year award... thanks to some Lancer Tears. The banquet doesn't have anything to do with music. In fact the 8 bars from some shitty Nickleback song was the only music heard all night (before every award. barf). The banquet did however inspire the title of this post since the video people decided to quote the Hoosiers in the year end video.

Even though we're already winners in the literally sense, this here post is dedicated to fine men and women who started this journey with me 5 long years ago (or more like 5 short years ago). That's right, it's a 5th year blog. We're all winners and we're all gonna be winners once we live this fine institution... at least I'm pretty sure we will be... maybe... hopefully... ah whatever.

Way back in year 1 there were an abundance of rookie diners (as I'm sure they're are every year). Everyone rushes to Creelman after practice to get the Exhibition Diner (T's fav). These diners usually ended up lasting about 2 hours, mainly cause Kozi would go back for 4 or 5 cookies. Good times, I should probably play some music now... My big song in first year was Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve. Who cares about copy right infringements, this song is awesome.

Ok, year 2. Not that every year wasn't a Taking Back Sunday year but year 2 kicked it off. Even though Kyle rocked it hard in year 1, I'm putting it year 2 since we had some epic throw downs at the Cribbage.

Year 3. What happened in year 3? T Money bailed on us... we gained Bohandi... Kozi ripped a sink off of the wall in Trappers... and I'm sure the girls cried a lot (just kidding). Actually, this class of girls was definitely tops in my books, no crying here (at least not where I could see it which is all that matters). I also think third year was the year Death Cab came out with that really shitty album... lame. MGMT came out with Oracular Spectacular though so life wasn't all bad (I think they released it in 2nd year but no one knew who they were until 3rd). Weird, my font just changed and I don't know how to change it back. oh well.  How about some music... Regina? Regina.

Wow year 4 already... or not soon enough. This post is rambling on hardcore. Ok, year 4 was definitely a big year for Two Hours Traffic (discovered in 3rd year but they released Territory in 4th). And they played that awesome free show at The Taps where we obnoxiously requested Lost Boys until they played it. Thanks THT. Oh, and Biewald finally decided what school she wanted to go and moved to Guelph.

Hey, here we are in year 5! We made it! Tourts already has her degree, so does T Mac and Kozi but they're doing their Masters so they're lame. Kyle still lives at home although he's moving into the basement. T Money is going rogue again and heading up north the tree plant. Kim is dating Jackson (who should not be confused as her 12 year old son). Rachel is finally getting used to Ontario. Allan and Jennie still talk about Hillcrest (get over yourselves guys, you're not that cool). And me... well, I'm still getting by on my good looks and manly charm. Life is good. University wasn't so bad, thanks to all the awesome people. Here's to another 5 years or 5 decades of being friends and making memories.

Longest post ever! Peace out homies!
