Hello Hello, Jonah here again. When guilty by association was chosen as this week’s theme I thought it would be easy to come up with songs, or at least groups. I find a lot of my music using allmusic.com’s similar artist or influenced by features. That said, most of the music in my library is just off by that slightest bit, making the sounds just different enough to tell the groups apart.
After a lot of digging I think I found some.
In my last post I rediscovered my grade 11 love, Massive Attack. When I brought them out again I remembered there were a few artists that had been mentioned in their bio on allmusic, one stood out because of their distinct name, Sneaker Pimps. I downloaded them last week and am bringing them to you today. I hope you are as pleasantly surprised as I was.
So after those songs have sufficiently brought you down, how about picking things back up. This next song I thought was Cypress Hill the first few times I heard it. Mostly because the beat has the same distinctive sounds used by this group’s west coast sound-alike. Jump around is actually by House of Pain, but I hope you can hear why I was confused when I was little. Oh, one last note, yes that is Everlast (for those of you who can remember him).
Annnnnd I’m out.
