the only thing that compares to rocking out once, is doing it twice

not that other things aren't as good as rocking out..

but in terms of making a comparison, one can see that it would be much easier to mathematically compare rocking out once to rocking out twice than it would be to attempt to compare something like rocking out once to something like a freshly baked lasagna..

does that make sense? i tend to not make sense.

where this is all going is a story from when i was younger. we had this computer at my house with windows 95 on it. you might expect that when it came time to upgrade to windows 98, i would be super excited because when you are young newer is always cooler and having something that your friends have is seemingly essential. but that was not the case for me when we got windows 98. with windows 98 came the loss of windows 95. what did windows 95 have that was so special? when you clicked on 'my computer' it would bring up a dozen or so icons, two of which were very special. my dad told me i shouldn't go messing with anything in 'my computer' but i figured if i stuck to just these two, we'd be safe. one was a game where you went around a maze collecting diamonds and shooting stuff. i don't remember much from it but i do remember the game resembling a midnight rave with all the lazers and colour. the other thing that caught my eye was the music video to weezer's 'buddy holly'. i loved that they made it look like they were part of the show happy days! i'd never even seen happy days! but it was cool that they got to be in the 50's with the fonz and sing to girls in dresses. i have no idea why this video was included on windows 95. but i guess the time frame checks because i'm pretty sure the blue album was released in '94. i used to watch that video every day and the blue album is still one my favourite along with coldplay's 'a rush of blood to the head' and bon iver's 'for emma, forever ago'.

so this brings me to the rocking out twice part. the best part of the blue album IMO is the last song 'only in dreams'. every time i hear it i get amped because i know they rock out so hard and then i have to think about whether not it was the first time or the second time they've rocked out. if it was the first, then i get excited to rock out again and if it was the second i've probably rocked out enough for one day anyways and should be okay with another song starting. check out this encore from a concert in the mid 90's!

aaaaaaand here's the cd version, the one that i rock out to.

it's too bad weezer is all pop now. am i right ms. partridge?! yeah i'm right, i'm half artist half scientist.
