Let's start 'er off with a little mental exercise:
imagine your self in the back of your parents car. you've got a sort of John Cusak circa "Say Anything" look as you go in for the kiss. you go 90, she goes ten. boom, you're making out. this is the best night ever. after a little while the windows begin to fog up and the music stops. shit! you've gotta flip the tape. moment's ruined.
Okay you all warmed up now? See, even though I was born right about the time when tapes were being phased out by the almighty CD-R (my mom did get be a Blue Rodeo cassette one time..it sucked), I've always found the idea of the mix tape alluring. Something about choosing the right songs, the right tempos, the right lyrics, the right rise and fall gets me all fired up.
The theme for this week is a little get to know you thing. I'll hit shuffle on my iTunes and shamelessly give you the first ten tunes that pop up:
1. Hand in Glove - The Smith
2.Fight Test - The Flaming Lips
3.Grow Old With Me - John Lennon
4. Welcome to the Working Week - Elvis Costello

6. All I'm Thinkin' About - Bruce Springsteen
7. Boxer - The Gaslight Anthem
8. Blew (Live) - Nirvana
9. Cry Cry Cry - Johnny Cash
10. Young Americans - Bowie
Cheers! Rob J.
